KTM TPS Protection Cap
For 2012 models, KTM has fitted a protection cap 77111014050 on the TPS to help prevent foreign debris from entering. This can be mounted to the 2011 models as well by first removing the connector from the wire harness (NOT A WARRANTY ITEM).
Evaluations and inspections of faulty EFI components have revealed that dirt and water are a major cause of failures. During cleaning and maintenance, the use of high pressure washing could create contamination troubles with the fuel management & delivery systems and is not recommended. After extensive market research, TPS failures have mostly been found to be caused by moisture contamination via high pressure washing and/or impacts from debris.
